Our History

Schimmer Hyundai started in 1939 as a garage service station in West Brooklyn, Illinois. Harry Schimmer owned and operated the facility until 1942 when the service moved to Mendota in a partnership with Jack Klinefelter. When Don Schimmer took over in 1950, the business expanded, providing a wide range of automobiles and service options. In the 1980s, Don's son Jeff joined the operation as they opened additional stores in the area, eventually adding Hyundai to the lineup in 2001. Since then, Schimmer has become one of the leading Hyundai dealers near Marseilles.
